Following on from the completion of Accommodation Building 2, Jessops Construction Ltd was appointed to design and reconfigure the existing Accommodation Building 1. The philosophy was to mirror the configuration of areas that worked so successfully for the staff and pupils within Accommodation Building 2.
The works were programmed to be completed in three phases working in a live environment. This allowed minimum disruption to the occupancy for the students whilst allowing the maximum capacity of students for the school.
Each phase involved initial strip out of walls and floor coverings allowing the reconfiguration of lounges, dining rooms and kitchens as communal areas and separating the bedrooms to quieter areas of the building.
New mechanical and electrical feeds were installed for the kitchens, lounges, utilities and showers.
New glazed screens were incorporated into the new stud walls for extra staff awareness.
Each phase included; kitchens and appliances, utility rooms and appliances, new doors, joinery works, soft flooring and decorations. Additional furniture was also provided.
Upon completion of these works, Jessops Construction Ltd were also appointed to carry out further classroom reconfigurations within the Main Hall.
