Jessops History

Jessops Construction Ltd was formed in May 2000 and is now in its eleventh year of trading.

Before forming Jessops Construction Ltd, the two Directors were employed by an international construction company with an annual turnover in excess of £1 billion pounds.

The two Directors were employed by the Northern Division (Eastern Region) with the Managing Director having accrued 11 years service, Director and Company Secretary, 23 years service.

Our aim is to specialise in the construction of quality buildings and refurbishments, working closely with a select number of developers and professionals on both traditional type tenders and design and build 'one stop shop' schemes. Where the opportunity arises, we are pleased to implement an 'open book' policy on negotiated contracts and sincerely believe that this approach has the potential to afford 'best value' for our clients.

In order for us to achieve our aims it was very important for us to obtain quality experienced staff from the outset. Our prior working relationships with key people, born from the two Directors 53 years combined and continuous experience in the construction industry, was instrumental in the formation of our construction teams.

Trading commenced from office accommodation rented in Newark, after the first year it was apparent from our ever increasing workload that larger premises would be required sooner rather than later. Having made the decision to move, we purchased our current property on London Road, Newark, in May 2001.

In 2006 Richard Wherry was appointed as Managing Director to lead the company into the future with innovative ideas and to expand the existing client base. Richard also began to strengthen the existing construction teams through additional training and further key appointments.

Our first ten years of business has seen the successful completion of the following contstruction activities:

• Apartments, being a mixture of new build and conversions of existing buildings
• Medical Centres
• Warehouses with office facilities and car parks
• Schools
• Retail

• High class domestic conversions
